2026: Year of the Fire Horse

2026: Wow, am I ready for it. Stepping forward, onward and upward about sums it up.
And yes, I will tell you in other posts how I’ve gotten to where I am today. But this blog post is about horses.
My first day back in the saddle was November 1, 2025, which was almost 5 months after surgery. (Too long in my opinion, but I also had to wait at least 3 months, as that’s how long it took for my skull to heal).
It was….exhilarating to say the least. A little nerve wrecking, as you might imagine, but I was ecstatic by the end. I started off just walking and jogging, getting used to my seat and Bradley (the horse) again.
And then I kept riding. At first slowly, about every other week and now I’m out at the barn 1-2x days per week. Doing it all….or at least close to it. Barn days are my best days right now. I love being there, the people there, the quiet, the smells, the conversation, and of course riding – the list goes on and on.
The more I ride, the more I feel my strength coming back. Even David, one of my trainers, commented on it the other day. I’m now riding 2 horses as opposed to just one, and oftentimes in the same day. I feel so fortunate to be out there and be around all ~25 horses.
And….I’ll be showing again! My last show was April of 2025 in Burbank, CA. I’m very much so looking forward to showing this year. I’m always learning (one of my favorite things), and I love the combination of learning and showing. It makes me a better rider, and human being too. Showing is a whole scene in itself – I’ll save that for another post.
All in all, 2026: Year of the Fire horse – I’m here with and for it. Bring it on.
